Did we wake up on the edge of war led by the incompetent and imbecilic? This a prayer for peace and plead to our better angels.
This is Parody
This is my God-given constitutional right to use my artistic voice as a form of protest against those that would choose to roll back progression and to marginalize others all in the pursuit of their definition of Great.
...and this is Radio Free Dixie. The voice of liberalism in the Made Great Again South. From the Ozarks and the Kentucky Hills, down to the bayous and the Gulf of MEXICO shores. From Texas to the Carolinas and Maryland down to Florida
This parody of Radio Free Europe, Radio Free Asia, and Radio Liberty was inspired by the US President’s decision to cut funding to Voice of America, a vital news outlet providing objective news and information to countries without press freedom. The work imagines a fictional resistance broadcast targeting a specific demographic of President 47’s supporters: Southern middle and upper-middle-class conservatives, particularly Southern women. The concept appeals to Southern tropes of hospitality, kindness, politeness, and empathy, aiming not to change minds on issues like LGBTQ+ rights, but to highlight the importance of conservatives and liberals working together, which has always made America and the South great. The artist emphasizes that the US President’s agenda puts the rights and freedoms of everyone, excluding a wealthy male elite, at risk.
