Tracks 11 & 12 from his debut album "Convicted!" released in 1980 copyright Nemperor Records. It was recorded at Master's Workshop Studio in Toronto and was produced by Eddie Leonetti. This may be one of the most obscure albums I've uploaded. I heard the song "Sweet Delight" when it was a minor hit on Canadian FM radio back in the day and admired his guitar playing so I decided to buy the album. Gus Papas wrote guitar rock with a slight punk influence so these days it might be considered "alternative rock." I appreciate its minimal production without a lot of overdubs and effects added. At times it sounds like it may have been recorded live in the studio. A highlight is the reggae-influenced "Southern-Most Part of My Soul." The album has received poor retrospective reviews and at the time of release it made almost no impact on the charts. He based himself in Los Angeles and toured as an opening act for well-known artists like The Charlie Daniels Band and Joe Jackson, among others. He gained enough popularity in Texas that his band was able to perform as a headlining act there. He went on to release a second album "On the Verge" in 1983 without much success and an independent CD titled "Shake the Devil" in 2005. The Gus Papas Band continues to perform occasional shows in the Toronto area where they live. Written by Gus Papas and produced by Eddie Leonetti. Featuring:

Gus Papas - Lead vocals, lead & rhythm guitars & background vocals
Kerry Ladd - Bass
Danny Taylor - Drums
Special Guest:
Eddie Leonetti - Keyboards
