Paul McCartney talks songwriting and how he wrote "Michelle" with The Beatles. Paul tells producer Rick Ruben the story of how Michelle came to be. John Lennon was in art school at the time and invited Paul to his art parties. His love of French artists and French girls led him to dressing in a black turtleneck and writing in a French style to impress the ladies. He was inspired by French singer Édith Piaf and got help from a friend's wife at the time who was a French teacher.
