FELT PIANO SESSION #06

Music and lyrics by Paul McCartney. 'Jenny Wren' is an outstanding song from his 2005 album ‘Chaos And Creation In The Backyard’. The songs on the album are pretty impressive. Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich did a good job of making it sound authentic and I enjoy the somewhat acoustic sound of the whole album. Jenny Wren stands out to me, because of the amazing chord progression from major to minor and the typical strong melody writing of Sir Paul McCartney. Again, it was a nice challenge to play the guitar part on piano.

Let me know if you're looking for sheet music of the accompaniment on piano, because I wrote it down and I would be happy to help you out!

Jeroen de Heuvel - Vocals/Piano

This was recorded with a Neumann TLM 103 microphone for vocals and a stereo pair of AKG C214 microphones for piano. I use the celeste pedal in the middle to make the Yamaha U30BL upright piano sound a bit darker.

Lyrics:

Like so many girls, Jenny Wren could sing
But a broken heart took her song away
Like the other girls, Jenny Wren took wing
She could see the world and its foolish ways

How we spend our days casting love aside
Losing sight of life day by day

She saw poverty breaking up her home
Wounded warriors took her song away

[Solo]

But the day will come, Jenny Wren will sing
When this broken world mends its foolish ways

Then we'll spend our days catching up on life
All because of you, Jenny Wren
You saw who we are, Jenny Wren
