Paul admits that at 20-something, the band didn't fully grasp the significance of the Ed Sullivan Show—until they were standing behind the curtain. Paul recalls a stagehand asking if he was nervous. When Paul said "no," the man replied, "You should be, there’s 73 million people watching," and immediately pulled the curtains back! Paul’s reaction: "Now I'm awake."
