Written by Paul McCartney and Produced by George Martin, 'Ebony & Ivory' was a superstar duet with legend Stevie Wonder; recorded in 1981 and issued as a single 40 years ago this week (29, March 1982). The single was a huge hit in America (#1) for 7 weeks; and a #2 in Australia. It also made the top spot in Britain, Canada, Germany, Finland, Italy and other countries. 'Ebony & Ivory' was nominated for Record and Song of the Year at the Grammy awards as well as Best Pop Duo or Group Vocal Performance. It lost all 3 - respectively to 'Rosanna' by Toto, 'Always On My Mind' by Willie Nelson and 'Up Where We Belong' by Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes.
