On 1 June 1987, Paul McCartney attended a 20th birthday party for the groundbreaking concept album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band at Abbey Road Studios, alongside wife Linda, artist Peter Blake and musician Roy Orbison. The affair marked the anniversary of a major junction in progressive rock, and the band’s history; traversing pressure and expectations through the creation of a group persona to alleviate the artistic strain that “Beatlemania” had created.
