STORYLINE:
STELLA MCCARTNEY DABBLES IN ART AT ECO-PIONEERING PARIS SHOW
On Monday morning, Stella McCartney presented what the house called a "democratic demonstration" outdoors on the piazza of the Centre Pompidou, where the general public was free to watch through a temporary fence set up around the site.
Closer to the multicolored runway, front-row personalities included Stella's dad, the comedian Jerry Seinfeld, and the artist Jeff Koons.
The Spring-Summer 2023 collection blended fashion and art, featuring the work of Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara—big-eyed girls, sinister children, activist slogans—on T-shirts, stretchy knit dresses, and dresses with bias-cut hems. (A Yoshitomo Nara x Stella McCartney unisex capsule will come out in December.)
Also in the colorful collection were T-shirt dresses with cape sleeves, tailored tracksuits, denim, bias cut skirt suits, cargo shorts, and for evening, cut-out dresses and asymmetric skirts with lead-free crystal embellishments.
This ready-to-wear collection was made with 87% conscious materials and the luxury industry's first garment made from regenerative cotton. It was McCartney's most responsible collection yet.
