Despite his reputation for shock rock, Alice Cooper largely drew inspiration from classic rock and rolls. Although theatricality was a big aspect of Cooper's stage persona, the 1960s classic tunes that inspired Cooper to start playing music served as the inspiration for his composition. Cooper picked up some crucial insights from the Fab Four because no band could possibly match The Beatles' stature.

Nobody was better when it comes to superb songwriting, in my opinion. "McCartney and Lennon just produced such fantastic songs," Cooper remarked in a Louder Sound piece. "The early Beatles are always what come to mind when I think of The Beatles. Any person in the world would have loved to have written any one of these songs since they are all like the ideal three-minute song. A good rock tune is "She Loves You."

Cooper joined the notorious Los Angeles drinking group "The Hollywood Vampires" in the 1970s. Keith Moon, Harry Nilsson, and Mickey Dolenz were also members of the group, and Cooper proclaimed himself the "president" of the group. When he was in town, John Lennon was thought to be a member of the club together with Ringo Starr. Cooper's chance to speak with Lennon was a dream come true.

Lennon chose a certain Alice Cooper song as his personal fave during one of their hangouts. The song "Elected" from the band's 1972 album Billion Dollar Babies was made public around the time of the election. Cooper declares his intention to run for president in it, making fun of the contest between Richard Nixon and George McGovern.

According to Cooper, "Lennon felt that the release of 'Elected' was like a great poke in the eye to all politics." "He came to the office in New York to listen to the record, and he kept bringing people in by saying, 'You've got to hear this record!'" I once approached him as he was leaving. How are you doing, John? Hello, Alice! Amazing record. Paul would have done it better, he continues. Well, of course he would - he's Paul McCartney, I thought. It was significant that he cherished the album.
