When electric vehicles were first introduced, range came first while performance took a backseat. With the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan 4S, performance takes center stage. The Porsche Taycan 4S, the introductory model of the electric performance vehicle, is available with two different batteries. The Performance Battery delivers 429 horsepower -- but with the overboost with launch control, output increases to 522 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. The Performance Battery Plus makes 482 hp, which increases to 562 hp and 479 lb-ft with overboost with launch control. Price starts at $103,800. Will that price make it competitive enough to go up against the Tesla Model S?
